  • Is there any cost to attend the Metadata Co-op Webinars?

There is no cost for any of the Metadata Co-op's education webinars.

Should I take the webinars in a specific order?

We're leveraging the Crawl-Walk-Run methodology, giving you just as much information as you need at each step, so yes, you will want to attend the sessions in order. To make it as easy as possible for you to attend the webinars when it's convenient for you, webinars are offered continuously and may be viewed either on-demand or attended live.

Most attendees will want to take the current roster of webinars in the following order. Whenever in doubt about what webinars are available, when or what session to take next, visit metadata.pbs.org/training.

    • Metadata for Content Discovery (Metadata 101)
    • A Metadata Model for Content Discovery
    • Content Discovery for Content Creators (anyone may attend, but this session is designed specifically to give producers an understanding of their role in the information life cycle and the latest best practices for program listings)
    • An Introduction to EIDR
    • Using the EIDR Registry (self-guided course, not a webinar; request access at metadata.pbs.org/eidr)

Who should attend the Introduction to EIDR webinar?

Any staff from any PBS member station may attend the Introduction to EIDR Webinar (ideally after attending at least Metadata 101 and possibly the Metadata Model for Content Discovery webinars).

EIDR registration has the greatest impact when done at the top of the content production lifecycle, when a project is first acquired or greenlit for production. For that reason, the following list of station staff roles will benefit most from attendance at this webinar. (Note that EIDR registration is useful for both nationally and locally distributed content; for digital-first as well as broadcast or streaming content.)

    • Chief Content Officers; Directors of Content
    • Content Strategists
    • Content Planners
    • Programming Teams
    • Directors of Audience Engagement
    • Traffic Teams
    • Producers & their teams
    • Editors (for acquired programming)
    • Publicity / PR / Marketing

This webinar is typically offered several times each month or it can be accessed on-demand. You can access the recorded session or find the current schedule of live webinars on the Metadata Co-op website at https://metadata.pbs.org/training

Are there pre-requisites for the self-guided course "Using the EIDR Registry"

In order to register for the Using the EIDR Registry self-guided course, you do need to have completed the following two pre-requisites:

    • The Metadata Model for Content Discovery (sometimes referred to as the Metadata 102) Webinar
    • Introduction to EIDR Webinar

Both of these webinars are typically offered as live webinars several times each month, or you can watch a pre-recorded session on-demand. To see the full schedule of live webinars as well as links to recorded sessions, visit our website at https://metadata.pbs.org/training

Once you've completed the pre-requisites, you can register for the online, self-guided course Using the EIDR Registry. To register, visit https://metadata.pbs.org/eidr and complete the form at the bottom of the page. Once you've completed the form, you will receive access credentials to the course together with information about the next steps.
