Ultimately, the goal is to create a single source of truth for program metadata at each station so that it becomes a straightforward process to automate and streamline as much of the metadata distribution as possible.
The first step, however, is to determine all of the places where program metadata needs to go and who, internally, is responsible for providing it. By registering your content with EIDR, you take the first step in being able to create a single source of truth.
Once you have unique identifiers for your content, platforms and partners can pull and validate much of the metadata directly from EIDR.
Eventually, the entire industry will move toward more automated and streamlined processes, but in the interim, it will be necessary to keep providing metadata to all of the places you provide it today--and to register content with EIDR.
