Missing information

If we don't have certain elements of metadata (for very old shows, for example), will we still be able to enter the show into EIDR?

  • There are only 20-or-so fields required to enter metadata into EIDR (you can download the list at metadata.pbs.org/eidr). For very old shows, if you are missing any of the required fields, you can often provide just what you do know (if you don't know the original broadcast date, for example, you can provide just the year).

You should also consider the goal of registering your content with EIDR. If the show is not available anywhere for anyone to watch (online or otherwise), there may not be much benefit to registering it. You should always prioritize new and forthcoming programs for registration in EIDR; registering your back catalog can be a long-term effort, as it is for most content producers.
